The service was very excellent!! We were brought miso soup to start out (complimentary). It was a little on the salty side, but nonetheless is was a good starter. I ordered the Las Vegas! It was super yummy, but the pieces felt almost mini-sized. Fortunately, that did mean they were easier to eat! My date ordered the Zen 2. He liked it but was sad it didn't come with cream cheese.
Overall, it was a tasty place. -

I am a huge fan of sushi! I lived in Japan for three years and had the best sushi I've ever had anywhere while living there. Of course, it was the birthplace of sushi so it better have been good.
After leaving Japan, I had a really hard time accepting the truth of the sushi everywhere else, it lacked that flavorful punch and essence. I searched high and low, tried countless sushi places since moving to El Paso, and was about to give up on ever experiencing exceptional sushi. That is until a friend said to come to Sushi Zen.
My faith in sushi was restored!! I love sushi zen sushi! It is as close to the dreams of sushi I lived in Japan. The texture is right, the size is right, the flavor is right, the names are right, it is authentic Japanese sushi (ok, maybe except for the green chili one). And part of the reason, I discovered, was because the restaurant has actual Japanese people in it, that own and run it. If you have ever been to El Paso, or live in El Paso, you KNOW that's a huge deal.
Anyway, the service staff is super friendly, I have practically become friends with all of them. They care that your food and service is excellent. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, but I find that to be the norm with service across all of El Paso, so in comparison, they are actually very fast.
Myself and my wife come here once a week, and my only complaint is there is no beer. But the sushi prices more than make up for the lack of booze. Not only is the taste great, the price is most definitely right. I have also come here for lunch and the prices are even better with the lunch box options.
The menu offers items other than sushi, and other family members have ordered and been happy with the items, but I cannot personally speak of them as I only go to a sushi named restaurant for sushi. -

I love Sushi Zen! We eat here regularly and know the staff well. The entire staff is very sweet and friendly and always greet us warmly! We order the avocado roll, sweet potato roll, and the philly roll most often. The food quality is always really good, and the miso soup is amazing!! My only suggestion would be that they freshen up the paint a little, it would make a huge difference. But aside from that it's a place I would recommend anyone eat at!

The service is slow. There was only one waitress working, but she's very sweet. Unfortunately the sushi is ok. Nothing extraordinary. We ordered the California roll with real crab meat, the El Paso roll, and the Tokyo Sleeping roll which was my favorite. The imitation crab on the El Paso roll was drenched. When I ate it, I could feel moisture leave it. My sister found a shell in her bite of the California roll. Other than that the ingredients were fresh. If you sit in a booth you may be overlooked because it's hard to see you. The restaurant has a typical sushi restaurant vibe. You can see all the sushi as its being made which is pretty cool.

I was here a while back (several years) and the first thing I noticed is the remodeling. The opened the space up. The private spaces are semi private now, but still making for intimate areas if that is what you want. I sat in the main seating so I could look out and people watch.
The sushi was very good- I had to stop myself from ordering more.
